To the Lion of the East, my friend and brother Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, I have the following to say. They attacked your home and raided your community with their soldiers.
They sought to crush your body, spirit and soul, to break you and to kill the gallant and fighting spirit of your people.
They forgot that the application and unleashing of fire cannot put out fire: it only adds to the rage of the inferno and causes it to spread and develop into a massive and uncontrollable conflagration which will ultimately consumme the entire nation.
Despite the provocation and the brazen attempt to intimidate you and yours I urge you to be encouraged, to remain true to your noble convictions, to stand firm, to stay strong, to remain peaceful and to continue to reject the idea of an armed struggle knowing that you represent the hope and aspiration of millions.
This is all the more so because the entire world is watching. Our victory will not come by the levying war, the shedding of blood or by the usage and espousal of violence and armed conflict but rather through the painful veil and fiery furnace of suffering, passive resistance, self-denial, dedication, persecution and sacrifice.
Those that seek to oppress and subjugate the righteous, that seek to enslave their fellow human beings in perpetuity, that seek to destroy, torment and humiliate others, that seek to deny the sons and daughters of our land the right to fully exercise their God-given liberty and freedom and that rule by the force of tyranny, injustice and the shedding of blood never end well and shall not prevail.
In truth there is no greater crime than to unleash a nation’s Armed Forces against its own people in an attempt to stamp out free speech, silence opposing voices and eliminate dissent.
It happened to the Shiite Muslims of Zaria where one thousand innocent souls were butchered in one afternoon at the behest of military commanders simply for being different and now it is happening to the good people of the east.
Yet the light of truth and the struggle for liberation, justice and equity can never be diminished or defeated. In the end the will of the people and the counsel and purpose of God shall stand.
No matter the price and no matter how long it takes, in the end we shall prevail. The Lord be with you.
Kanu’s Mother was married after the War, so kanu does not know the wrath of war. But history is fresh when Our father and Mentor Awolowo gave the same advice to Ojukwu of blessed memory. Mazi Kanu ask your dad or Mum what is the role of yorubas towards civil war. Pls. Kanu don’t ruin your mother land and your people.
HOW MUHAMMADU BUHARI IS ABOUT TO ROCK THE NIGERIAN UNION BY ERRONEOUSLY BELIEVING THAT USE OF MILITARY FORCE CAN ‘QUELL’ ‘CRUSH’ AND ‘SILENCE’ AGITATIONS FOR JUSTICE FOR EVER: IPOB AS A CASE STUDY
Buhari largely created room for current anarchy rocking Nigeria by folding his arms and watched Nigerians slaughtered and raped by his Fulani kinsmen in Benue, Plateau, Southern Kaduna and other states of Nigeria.
By allowing his armed Fulani kinsmen to kill, maim and rape Nigerians with impunity, Buhari sanctioned and endorsed anarchy in Nigeria. With that, he lost political authority to stop any group not to bear weapons.
As I write this , armed killer Fulani herdsmen still occupy a number of ancestral lands belonging to autochtonous people of Benue, Plateau and Southern Kaduna among others .
A president that allows Fulani herdsmen to carry arms and kill other Nigerians is an architect and promoter of anarchy and lawlessness.
It is that anarchy that is playing out in the South East, Rivers and parts of Niger Delta.
The deployment of soldiers in the South East to intimidate, threaten and kill IPOB members, if not well and carefully handled by Buhari, might spark an ignition that will set Nigeria on fire and bring about her final collapse and disintegration into a number of sovereign new nation-states..
Unfortunately, Buhari has eyes but his eyes are
useless because his mind is blind to see that Nigeria is sitting on keg of gun powder and any mistake from him is capable of igniting that keg of gun powder that will explode Nigeria into pieces.
He would be strategically and militarily myopic for him to think that Middle Beltans, who are being killed by Fulani killer militias on a regular basis and whose land is being occupied by same terror group will fight another war for him and his Fulani kinsmen.
Generals T.Y Danjuma (the man that abducted Gen. Ironsi and handed him over to Northern soldiers who killed him), Dogoyaro; Lekwot and other political leaders from the
Middle Belt like Professor Jerry Gana, have all sent warning signals to Buhari and his Fulani North, that the Middle Belt would not fight another civil war for them.
In precise terms, Generals Danjuma and his brothers from the Middle Belt have repeatedly accused Buhari, through the Northern Christian Elders Forum, that he is using Fulani
militias and Islamic jihadists to “wage stealth jihad against the Middle Belt and South.”
The Yoruba Liberation Command (YOLICOM), had released a number of videos and press statements, where it called for
“immediate dissolution of Nigeria and creation of sovereign Oduduwa Republic for the Yoruba nation”
It is will be strategically and politically naive for Buhari and his kinsmen to think or believe that YOLICOM does not have support and backing from Yoruba elders, elite, intelligentsia, business men, traditional rulers and masses.
For me, YOLICOM is the military wing of the Yoruba nation to fight for and secure a sovereign state should discussion and negotiation on restructuring and entrenchment of true federalism in Nigeria fail.
I am convinced that a great percentage of Niger Deltans are ever ready to leave Nigeria any time, having been fighting for decades against Fulani and Hausa oppressors who appropriated their oil, killed their sons; raped their wives, mothers, daughters and destroyed their environment in connivance with international oil companies operating in the region.
Any full blown military action by Buhari in the East against IPOB is capable of drawing sympathy from armed agitators in the Niger Delta and that could result in resumption of coordinated and sustained attacks on oil and gas facilities in the region, thereby bringing Nigeria’s economy to its knees.
Nigeria CAN NOT survive any attacks on oil and gas sector
now, its economic mainstay in view of the current economic misfortune rocking and terminal financial disease plaguing her.
A resumption of attacks on oil and gas sector in the Niger Delta would be the last straw that would break the camel’s back as far as Nigeria’s economy is concerned as it is capable of causing an urgent collapse of her economy and crumbling affairs of government.
I am of the view that the Middle Belt, South West and South South will not fight another war for Buhari and his Fulani North like was the case during Nigeria Civil war from 1967-70.
Generals Gowon, T.Y Danjuma, Obasanjo and a number of others who fought for the Fulani North and provided war leadership and strategy, during the Civil War were/are from Yoruba land and Middle Belt.
However, the Fulani, Hausa and other Muslim tribes of core North, over time took glory for the war ‘victory’ and pocketed the rest of Nigeria and planted their people in the military, economy (especially oil, gas and maritime sectors and seaports); customs, immigration and other sectors of our national life at the expense of merit, academic qualification and competence at the expense of other Nigerians to a great extent.
I wish to caution that Buhari should carefully weigh the consequences of declaring a full scale military operation to silence Biafra agitation.
My belief is that agitations in Nigeria will die a natural death if the factors behind them were investigated thoroughly and holistically.
With that done, Buhari’s government should initiate the process for entrenchment of justice, fairness, love, brotherhood, mutual respect, respect/value for sanctity of human life and true/fiscal federalism in Nigeria.
That is the only thing that CAN bring lasting end to
Biafran and other agitations in Nigeria and restore lasting peace, genuine unity, economic prosperity and development to Nigeria for the good of every Nigerians.
Having said all this, my strong view and position is that Buhari and his Fulani kinsmen and their subjects in
the North still think and believe (albeit erroneously) that they are capable of continuing to hold Nigeria by the jugular like they have done for over five decades and continue to use coercive force, arm-twisting and divide and rule tactics to rule Nigeria and perpetrate grave injustice on others in the name of ‘One Nigeria’ and ‘National Unity’.
It is wrong for Buhari to think and believe that Nnamdi Kanu and others asking for justice for their people WANT to rock the ‘Nigerian Union’.
On the contrary, it is Buhari, Northern Elders Forum, Arewa
Consultative Forum and ‘Arewa Youths’, whose interest he (Buhari) is representing and who are against entrenchment of justice and fairness in Nigeria that are about to rock the Nigerian Union by continuing to vehemently oppose entrenchment of justice in the land.
The IPOB and Nnamdi case which has made Buhari to deploy full military might in the South East would prove whether Nigeria state under Buhari will tarry or explode and disintegrate into pieces.
The coming days, weeks, months and perhaps, years shall tell whether use of force to ‘ ‘crush’, quell’ and ‘silence’ agitations or attending to their ROOT CAUSES is the best option to
build a united and prosperous Nigeria.
THOSE ALREADY CLAPPING FOR BUHARI FOR DEPLOYING THE ARMED FORCES TO ‘CRUSH AND QUELL’ NNAMDI KANU AND IPOB SHOULD NOT CELEBRATE BECAUSE IS NOT UHURU YET! MAY GOD KEEP US TO SEE WHO WILL CRY AND WHO WILL LAUGH AT LAST, AMEN!!
Hmm. All this you are saying is super lies just trying to tell us because Buhari is a Muslim and from north west and willing to fight corruption is not fit to rule. I assure you who ever wants be free from any part of Nigeria can happily leave.
To those that feel Nigeria should be no more because they are not in power or like the government of the day i say shame on you all. Your actions and inactions contributed to what we are facing today, so i say shame on you all.
“Our victory will not come by the levying war, the shedding of blood or by the usage and espousal of violence and armed conflict but rather through the painful veil and fiery furnace of suffering, passive resistance, self-denial, dedication, persecution and sacrifice”
