Key players and leaders in the international community have warned President Muhammadu Buhari not to run for a second term but he has refused to listen. That is why he was in the United Kingdom for 16 days. He was not ill and he was not getting treatment for any ailment but he was consulting with and trying to convince the representatives of various foreign governnents, including the American, British and French, that he can still run in 2019 and win. My sources have confirmed ro me that those he interacted with are not convinced but he has resolved to run regardless of their skepticism. They have asked him to probe and jail Godswill Akpabio, Tunde Fashola, Rotimi Amaechi, Rochas Okorocha and Bola Tinubu and they claim that these five, together with a number of others in his own party and government, are very corrupt. He has promised to do that after getting a second mandate.

He is not an angel and like every other mortal, he has his own fair share of faults, excesses and shortcomings. We do not agree on everything and neither do we always share the same opinion on matters of state and policy.

Sen. Dino Melaye Yesterday I tweeted the following: "It is not good enough to say that you are leaving Buhari simply because he came after you. You stood with him when he murdered, detained, insulted, framed up, disgraced, demonised, humiliated and lied about others for 3 years and you cheered him on. You failed to appreciate that those who ride on the back of a tiger always end up in its stomach. Now the tiger is chewing your balls you are wailing. You did not wail when it devoured others. Instead you supported it and enthroned a monster. Kindly ask God and the people to forgive you for your self-induced delusion and folly".

As we witnessed the slaughter and were confronted with the monstrous obscenity of yet another 200 innocent souls being butchered by Fulani herdsmen in Plateau state yesterday there is very little that gives us cause for cheer in our country. Evil abounds, acts of kindness are rare and people have become insensitive, unfeeling, uncaring and hard-hearted. Worse-still, these barbaric events are undereported in the media, played down and quickly forgotten whilst the ruling class, from both sides of the political divide, do not appear to care less.

History teaches us that there is only one thing that is more painful to the victims of mass murder, ethnic cleansing and genocide than the act itself and that is the tacit denial by its orchestrators and perpertrators that it ever took place. One of the most wicked and despicable lies that President Muhammadu Buhari has ever told is that the Nigerian Army was "soft" on the Biafrans and "restrained" during the civil war, implying that our soldiers did not indulge in genocide and mass murder.

I watched the hot exchange between the beautiful and alluring Afua Hirsch and the combative and bullish Piers Morgan about Sir Winston Churchill, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, on "Good Morning Britain". Surely if Piers Morgan is really interested in knowing who Afua Hirsch regards as a British hero he should simply find the time to read her book. She listed quite a few of them there. Meanwhile the suggestion that Winston Churchill or any other figure in British or indeed world history is infallible or an angel of light is absurd. Winston Churchill had his strengths and triumphs and he certainly did great things for Great Britain and indeed the entire world but he also had his weaknesses, failures, and very dark moments.

On 4th May 2018 Mr. Layefa Walter wrote the following: "Please don't forgot that it was under Buhari’s watch that Nigeria dropped a bomb on refugees at an Internally Displaced People's (IDP's) camp in Rann, Borno State and called it a “regrettable operational mistake.” That mistake killed about 250 people. Yes, 250 unarmed Internally displaced people were killed. Don't forget that it was under the command of President Buhari that over 400 unarmed Shiites were killed by the Nigerian military. Yes, over 400 unarmed Shiites were killed. Don't forget that it was under the supervision of President Buhari that over 300 unarmed IPOB "members" were killed by the Nigerian military. Yes, over 300 unarmed IPOB members killed.

Despite all the smiles, banter, pretensions, diplomatic niceties, doublespeak and pleasing words these two assertions, from the bully and the big man respectively, remain the most relevant in yesterday's historic meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and President Donald Trump at the White House. The fact that Buhari, like a naughty little schoolboy standing before his intimidating headmaster, had to tell a pernicious and specious lie about the weaponry (or lack of it) of the Fulani herdsmen and attempt to absolve them of any blame for the horrendous genocide that is being perpetrated against Christians in our nation in order to escape being spanked speaks volumes.
