Those that call me a tribalist and an igbo-hater are simply misguided and ignorant. Perhaps they do not know the meaning of those words or the true import of their meaning. Those that know me well like you can confirm the fact that I am not a racist or a bigot and that I consider such sentiments as being unworthy of a man of class, good breeding and culture.
Permit me to make my second and final contribution to the raging debate about Lagos, who owns it and the seemingly endless tensions that exist between the igbo and the yoruba. It is amazing how one or two of the numerous nationalities that make up Nigeria secretly wish that they were yoruba and consistently lay claim to Lagos as being partly theirs.
WHAT HAS THE WORLD COME TO?
A year after British Prime Minister Cameron promised to legalize homosexual marriage by 2015, he touted Britain as “the best place to be gay, lesbian or transgender anywhere in Europe” (Telegraph, July 24, 2013).
''The claim that the igbo helped to develop Lagos is hogwash. The major institutions of the south-west were developed by the diligence, hard-work, industry and sweat of the yoruba people. This is a historical fact'' Femi Fani-Kayode
Bradley Manning exposed the activities of US assassination squads in the Middle East. He is my hero. Julian Assange exposed the illicit activities of US diplomats and foreign governments. He is my hero. George Galloway stands for truth and consistently exposes the hypocrisy and double standards of American Middle Eastern and foreign policy.
I received the following short note from my dear friend Pastor Yinka Akintunde who is a London-based Pastor and a highly respected writer and author. I have his permission to share it with you.
According to the respected islamic scholar Professor Ishaq Akintola there is 'no age restriction in islamic marriage'. He may well be right and I honestly believe that islam, like christianity, is a humane and compassionate faith which seeks to protect the weak and guide its adherents on the path of righteousness and light.
The Nigerian Senate includes some of the brightest minds in our country many of whom are friends of mine and most of whom have been in active politics for many years. They have my respect. However what transpired in the Senate chamber a few days ago was a great cause for concern for not just me but millions of Nigerians from all over the world. How an innocent and seemingly uninteresting, uninspiring and unimportant debate about when and at what age a Nigerian citizen could legitimately and lawfully renounce his or her citizenship turned into a referendum on paedophilia and child marriage I dont know.
''Nigeria has many uncountable problems and none of them is early marriage. As a matter of fact early marriage the solution to about half of our problems. For those who wonder if I can give my daughter(s) out in marriage at the age of 9 or 13, I tell you most honestly, I can give her out at the age of 6 if I want to and its not your business.
In an attempt to apprehend Mr. Edward Snowdon a plane that was carrying the President of Bolivia, Eva Morales, was diverted to Austria on its way back to Bolivia from Russia. France and Portugal, based on intelligence reports from the Americans, closed their airspace to the plane because they believed that Snowdon was on it and that he was being secretly smuggled back to Bolivia.
President George W. Bush did a lot for Africa with his PEPFA initiative which saved the lives of millions and protected them from aids and his AGOA initiative which helped African businesses to grow by opening up the American market to their products. By way of contrast President Barack Obama has done next to nothing for Africa and has in fact dramatically reduced aid, trade and support for our continent.
Oh dear.......the Americans have now been caught spying on even their European friends. The American National Security Agency (aka ''No Such Agency") have bugged the telephones and internet activities of government officials, government buildings and foreign embassies of their closest allies in the world. The Europeans, quite rightly, have not taken the matter lightly.
