I have a word for my Islamist friend. Let me put it to you from the outset that you do not in any way represent the great faith of Islam. As a matter of fact I do not believe that islamists and islamic fundamentalists are Muslims at all, just as I don’t believe that Hitler was a christian.
I leave that for you to judge but let me tell you I do not fear anything, whether it be persecution, misrepresentation or even death. I passed that stage long ago. As long as Jesus is on the throne I fear nothing. I served my country as honestly and diligently as I could. My team and I worked extremely hard and gave four years of our lives to Nigeria working night and day at great risk to our lives and families. If some people somewhere hate Obasanjo and hate us for working for him and defending him then that is their problem not mine.
QUESTION
I had tremendous respect for the Obasanjo adminitration and I regarded it as having had in it's ranks some of the brightest and best young minds that Nigeria has ever known. I have also prayed for Nigeria in the past but I think that your poem titled "God Defend Nigeria", which was apparantly written in commemaration of the 49th year independence anniversary of Nigeria, was inappropriate and misplaced. This is because I do not believe that we can achieve anything just by praying alone and I am tired of just praying and hoping. I regard such counsel from you as nothing more than stupid optimism and religious hypnotism and cliche.
I will give you a short answer as to why christians love Israel and will always stand by them regardless of the fact that they not only killed our Lord Jesus Christ but that they have also rejected Him as the Messiah which we know Him to be. It is because the Holy bible specifically requires us to do so and tells us that "He who blesses Israel is blessed and He who curses Israel is cursed". Christianity came out of Judaism and the new testament of the bible(which is where chrisianity was established and where Jesus revealed Himself) is a fulfilment of the prophecies and promises of the old.
You assert that Ghaddafi lacks courage and only stopped his nuclear programme out of fear of the Americans and that Ahmadinejad is not insane? I disagree. The fact of the matter is that for the better part of the last 4 decades the west and the Americans have wanted him dead or removed from office and they have tried to effect this on a number of occasions yet they have failed woefully each time.
Do demons exist? Good question. Do u remember that Jesus Himself spoke about them and even cast them out? So did all the prophets, disciples and apostles. Just as the Lord has angels to effect His will and purpose here on earth so the devil has demons and his whole hierarchy of forces of darkness to effect his own (see Ephesians 6).
Israel has been attacked 3 times since 1948 by all the surrounding Arab countries put together and each time they crushed the Arabs. The problem is that unlike others the Jews are facing an "existential" threat: that is to say that they cannot afford to lose even once otherwise they will be wiped out completely. They are surrounded by enemies, they are hated by those around them who do not believe that they have the right to exist, they have no where else on the planet to go, they are heavily outnumbered and they are the only democracy in the Middle East.

It is amazing how some jobless imbeciles can lend themselves and their pens to falsehood all for a little cash. The disgraceful and clearly defamatory little piece written by some unknown hatchet writer and hired gun who claims that her name is Abimbola Agboluaje is one of such. I really do wonder how a newspaper like Businessday that has national circulation and credibility in the areas of business/economic coverage, would lend itself to such filth, and wastefully give a space to such an embittered and fraudulent soul as this. It is also against the ethics of journalism where they say facts are sacred and opinion is cheap.
Unlike President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad of Iran, who in my view merely confirmed my suspicion that he is completely insane when he was on the same programme just a few days ago, Muammar Ghadaffi of Libya was absolutely brilliant on Larry King live today. In my view he answered the questions put to him on the Lockerbie issue and other matters v well indeed. On Lockerbie and like most of the British families who lost their loved ones on that flight, I have never believed that it was the Libyan government that brought that plane down. Why do I say so ? Because the evidence presented at the special Scottish court that sat in the Hague for the case was so tenous, circumstantial, vague and flimsy that it was clear that they were acting on orders from somewhere far above. Someone, anyone, just had to be held accountable and punished for what happened in order to appease the baying and v naive western public:it really didn't matter if that person was innocent or not. And believe me that is how world politics, international espionage, matters of state and national interest work. Truth is always the first casualty in matters which the state has an interest.

One cannot overemphasize the importance of quality reporting when conveying facts and opinions in order to enhance and ensure accurate information dissemination. Before going any further I would like to give kudos to all those highly respected professionals who have undoubtedly excelled in this respect and who have added value to the practice of journalism in Nigeria.
Today I have a series of questions to ask about the apparent fury of the Americans on the Al Megrahi issue: is such fury legitimate or justifiable? Should the Libyan intelligence agent Ali Al Megrahi (the so-called Lockerbie bomber) have been released on compassionate grounds to go and die at home by the Scottish Justice Secretary having been convicted of the bombing and having been given a life sentence? Was he really guilty of the bombing of that plane in the first place? Was there really a secret deal and would he have been released on "compassionate" grounds if Libya did not have vast oil reserves and was not now opening up to the world? Is the sense of outrage expressed by the American relatives of those that were murdered justified?

So much has been said and written about Chief Remilekun Fani-Kayode (Fani- Power) the former Deputy Premier of the Western Region of Nigeria in the last few decades but the truth is that outside the usual negative propaganda and historical distortions very little is actually known or appreciated about his massive contribution to both Nigeria's legal and political history. Even less is known about the rich and illustrious social, political and legal heritage from which he comes. This article is an attempt to give an insight into whom this man really was and to let people know about the notable contributions that he made to our history.
